Layers of color at Orac's Experience Center in Barcelona

Barcelona, 2026

Built with Protopixel, the entrance to the Orac Experience Showroom is conceived as an experiential threshold; light plays an active role in shaping perception. Designed by and brought to life through a lighting concept by , the space uses dynamic light built with to enhance the architectural geometry and deepen the visitor’s spatial experience.

About the showroom

A showcase of architectural design and innovation

Orac Experience Center Barcelona is an immersive, design-led showroom created by Orac Decor, the Belgian manufacturer known for architectural mouldings and decorative wall solutions. Rather than a conventional retail showroom, the Experience Center functions as a hands-on inspiration and learning space for architects, interior designers, developers, and specifiers. Its purpose is to demonstrate how Orac products perform in real, atmospheric environments.

More than just lighting

Subtle atmospheres, impactful results

The installation is composed of multiple layers of light. The ribbed structure represents an inventive application of Orac’s core products (decorative frames and cornices) reinterpreted to create a fluid, wave-like rhythm inspired in the natural shapes of Catalan modernism. The subtle edges soften the interaction with light, producing a diffuse and comfortable visual atmosphere. Built with Protopixel, the system is delivered as a simple, easy-to-use installation by the hosts, with remote management options and intuitive mobile control that ensure operational efficiency while preserving design quality and versatility.
Rather than serving a purely functional role, the lighting follows the ribbed structure of the entrance, reinforcing its lines and volumes. Subtle shifts in intensity and movement add depth and visual rhythm, allowing the forms to reveal themselves progressively as visitors move through the space.
The entrance ribs can be individually controlled via the Spaces App, allowing light to be traced along their forms. Each rib functions as a programmable element, while collectively they act as a unified canvas for dynamic lighting effects.
Together, architecture, lighting, and technology create an entrance that functions not only as a passage but as an integral part of the overall experience, reinforcing the identity and design intent of the Orac Experience Showroom.
